Whether you ask a professional tailor or a friend to measure you, or prefer to do it yourself, we've compiled some guidelines to help you - so you can shop with confidence!

Bust:

Wear an unpadded bra (most dresses will have a built-in bra)

Relax your arms at your sides

Pull the tape measure across the fullest part of your bust

Waist:

Find your natural waistline, usually about 1 inch above your belly button

This is the smallest part of your waist

Keep the tape measure slightly loose to allow for breathing

Dress Length:

Measure barefoot

Stand straight with feet together

Starting from the hollow space between your collarbones, pull the tape measure straight down to the hem

Hips:

About 7 inches below your natural waistline

This is the widest part of your hips

The tape measure should brush across both hip bones
